Scale small and variable. Engraved, with outline hand colouring in colour wash and ink. 14.5”x18”. Shows active and dormant volcanoes. Outlines scatter of volcanic ash from 1842 eruption in the Azores and 1765 Lisbon Earthquake. In French. In very good condition: flat, faint original centre fold, slight browning around margins.

In good condition: flat with faint original centre-fold and slight creases where it was rolled up and squeezed.

Various scales. Maps are hand coloured.Flat with centre-fold, Slight age browning at edges. In very good condition.

Vermischtes zur Geologie [Miscellaneous (volcanic) Geology], 1850. The main map is the high Andean Quito Plateau of Ecuador showing the volcano complexes of Pichincha and Antisana. It is surrounded by insets of the Pyrenees with cross-section a coral atoll (over subsided volcano), the volcano Gedee in Java, the Himalayas and a diagram of the comparative heights of the highest mountains. Quite a pastiche! Engraving with limited areas of hand colouring, 36x46cm. Flat with centre-fold, Slight age browning at edges. Clear plate impression. In very good condition.

A Geological Map of the World, 1921, 1st edition.Scale not given but approx 1”=40,000miles (1:16,000,000)at equator. Colour print, 27”x44.5”, cut, mounted on linen and folded into brown cloth-covered book-style hard covers (9.25”x5.25”) with Stanford label on front. Mercator projection, so polar regions not shown. All unknown geology, “hypothetical detail” left blank. No place names or topography, only lat/long coordinates. Enclosed leaflet explains concept of data selection and gives sources by continent. Map bright and in very good condition. Cover in good condition with light wear on spine and corners bumped.
